Teenager François Ristorcelli’s first ever gig was a headline slot at Lollapalooza Paris
The Killers fan François Ristorcelli played the gig of his life at Lollapalooza Paris last Sunday (July 22), joining his idols on drums for their rendition of ‘For Reasons Unknown’.
Ristorcelli was spotted by Brandon Flowers in the front row holding a sign reading “Can I Drum?”, and was called on stage by the frontman before they played the 2006 track.
The teenager uploaded footage of the show to his Facebook profile, with a caption (in French) “My first scene is with the killers at Lollapalooza Paris! Just magic“
“Do you know ‘For Reasons Unknown’?” Flowers asks the fan after spying him in the audience. “You want to play it? In front of all these people?” Ristorcelli goes on to provide a confident rendition that might give regular sticksman Ronnie Vanucci Jr. something to worry about.
“These people paid a lot of money to be here tonight, we must make them happy!” says Flowers before the band launch into the climactic chorus. Afterwards Ristorcelli also managed to get a hug, high-five and a selfie with Flowers, while Vanucci let him keep his sticks as a souvenir.
It’s not the first time The Killers have let a fan play drums with them this summer. During their headline slot at Latitude earlier this month another fan, Henry from Cambridge, joined the band for the same song. During that set they also played a cover of Oasis‘ ‘Acquiesce’, after which Liam Gallagher himself invaded the stage.
At a set at Swansea’s Liberty Stadium in June a number of Killers fans were not so lucky, with many hitting out on social media after massive toilet queues forced them to miss the band’s headline slot.
